Air to water heat pump system winter antifreeze tips

In order to allow you to better use the air to water heat pump system and avoid heat pump unit failure, please be sure to operate the air to water heat pump system in accordance with the air to water heat pump user manual or instructions, and also do a good job of antifreeze in winter to ensure Heat pump heating system equipment must be used safely and normally to avoid freezing of the air energy heating system due to power outages, water shortages, improper operation or use, and unnecessary losses. Customers should be vigilant and implement it carefully!

Air to water heat pump system key points for antifreeze in winter

1. Pipe insulation
When the ambient temperature reaches the freezing point, the water temperature of the air source heat pump drops very quickly. If the hot water pipes and return pipes are not insulated, the heat consumption will be accelerated. The pipe insulation of the air source heat pump mainly uses insulation cotton or polyurethane foam. Small Pipe diameters are generally insulated with insulation cotton, and large pipes are insulated with polyurethane foam.

2. Please ensure that the heat pump unit must be powered on during normal use.
Keeping the unit powered on in winter not only ensures that the air-source heat pump can provide hot water around the clock, and often starts the compressor to run, but also ensures that the unit does not frost and allows the unit to operate normally. The air-source heat pump hot water unit and heating unit are used outdoors in winter. The automatic antifreeze protection function will be activated when the temperature is low.

3. The air to water heat pump system should be drained in time when not in use in winter.
If the air source heat pump unit does not operate in winter or needs to be shut down for a long time, such as: frequent power outages, unit shutdown at night, winter holidays, or when the unit is not used frequently in winter, all water in the unit, water pump, and outdoor pipelines should be drained. To prevent the unit from freezing, cut off the power supply and put on a protective cover. When running again, please conduct a comprehensive inspection of the system before starting it up.

4. Antifreeze must be added to the air source heat pump heating unit without draining the water.
According to the customer's specific usage conditions, in winter when it is inconvenient for the unit to drain water and there may be water and power outages, the entire air source heat pump heating system must be filled with antifreeze, and the local minimum temperature must be used as an important parameter for selecting antifreeze. .

5. Freezing treatment
If you find that the air source heat pump pipe has frozen but has not yet cracked, do not knock on the pipe or pour hot water on the pipe, but wait for it to melt naturally.

Note: The relevant switches of the air source heat pump unit, water pump, and control cabinet must be powered on and the automatic water replenishment valve must be open. The relevant valves of the unit system must be in a normally open state before the unit will automatically turn on the antifreeze function. Due to power outage, water shortage, incorrect control cabinet settings, the antifreeze protection function of the unit cannot be turned on normally. For projects that do not have an antifreeze automatic control system, antifreeze measures must be taken (draining water, adding antifreeze, etc.). For example, in water discharge treatment, the water in the main unit, terminal and piping system must be completely drained, and the valves must be oiled. Users who have the conditions to fill the host and terminals with nitrogen to protect the pipes from rusting due to exposure to air, and the supply water tank and its pipes should be insulated!
